Adoption Process

Thank you for your interest in a rescue dog. By adopting a dog you are saving two lives, the one you adopt and the one that can take place in our care.

Some important information before applying. An application does not guarantee adoption. We base adoption primarily on the compatibility of energy level & lifestyle. This is done to ensure that a good match is made and to reduce the risk that the dog will find itself without a guardian due to behaviors or activity levels.

Also, sometimes we get multiple perfect fit families for just one dog and of course can only adopt to one home. In these cases we can keep adoption applications on file for the future.

Once you have found a dog that you are interested in, you can begin the process of completing an adoption application.

Our adoption team reviews your application once it is received - If there is a good match on paper, the volunteer will call to talk about the adoption process in more detail. We will also contact your veterinarian, your references and conduct a home visit. If all references deemed positive then the adoptions process begins. At this time, a sleepover takes place so that the family may have an opportunity to see how the dog fits their lifestyle and if compatibility is suitable. At the end of the sleepover, If the family wishes to adopt the dog, they will sign an agreement with Marley's Hope and pay a one- time adoption fee of $300.00 that is not refundable.

Puppies adoption fees are $300 and this includes first set of vaccinations and is non-refundable. Adopters will get $150 back when they show proof of spay/neuter at, and no later than 6months of age. Adopters are required (in addition to adoption fee) to pay for the 2nd and 3rd set of vaccinations, alteration and microchip at the vet of your choice. Adoptions are conditional on proof of spay/neuter at 6months of age. We also require confidence classes or puppy classes for all dogs adopted out under 6months of age. Proof of enrollment will be required prior to signing the contract. If you feel as though you cannot attend classes (e.g. due to geography), please discuss this with Marley's Hope prior to applying by emailing
