Marley's Hope

We are a not for profit all breed dog rescue. We will help dogs in Halifax or around the world. We want to support our other local rescues and collaborate with all partners. Marley's Hope is a big dream with a small start. We want to help dogs that are all sizes and and all breeds get a second chance, or just a bit more time in a loving home. To help them heal and to help them find homes where they will forever be given the opportunity to be great dogs and love their people. If you are interested in fostering or adopting, please feel free to contact us. If you are interested in helping, please contact- together we can give Hope to all dogs that need us.

YIPPY!!!!!!! Special news for all the wonderful felines out there!

Cat de-clawing is no longer permitted in Nova Scotia!!!!!

At Marley's Hope we are dog centered, but we have loved a lot of kitties too! So this makes us extra special happy that this practice is no longer sanctioned by the Nova Scotia Veterinary Association and is banned in all of Nova Scotia, thanks to the very hard work of Dr. Hugh Chisholm and the Paw Project as well as the Tuxedo Party of Canada!

Miss Dixie is here to tell you all she is looking for her Forevers.

Forevers (fəˈrevərs) are humans who promise to love dogs no matter what. Once they commit to them, they provide food, shelter, vet care and of course toys. They ensure that training is done, they comfort them when they are scared and celebrate silly days like Gotcha Days. Forevers love their pup, they teach their pup what they want them to know and do, they don't expect them to understand things they were not shown or taught.

Forevers have patience and kindness. They enjoy giving belly rubs, getting kisses, sharing their snacks and being adored.

Dixie is looking for just that, someone who will love her, cherish her and teach her all she needs to know. Dixie has been though a few homes at a young age of 13 months. She was brought her from Texas when she was bought at a parking lot for campers. Her family surrendered her to us and she was adopted, but lacked proper training and was misbehaving with the children. So she was sent back and has been in foster for some time now, where she is learning all she needs to know to be a good girl. She was assessed and did wonderful, so we know that she will flourish in the right family. Dixie is a Black Mouth Cur Mix

Dixie's needs are as follows:

No children, adult only home.
A "forever" who will be gentle but have an expectation of proper behaviour, once she understands what you want her to do, she is happy to do it, she is a working dog at heart, so a job or activity to keep her mind and body busy would be perfect. Dixie has learned to paddle board, surfs and enjoys being active and loves to play. She will thrive in home where she can do this. Agility, sports or other activity will keep her happy. She is a medium energy dog, who is content to run and play and be active but loves cuddles and couch time.
Only Pet- Dixie does not enjoy the company of other dogs. A home without pets is required. Dixie is just under 40 pounds

If you fit the bill for Dixie's forever, please get in touch. There are special incentives attached to Dixie's adoption, so please apply today at

Ms. Maggie is here to share that she is almost ready for adoption!

Maggie is an 8 years YOUNG Great Dane who is FULL of life and happy as a clam. She has a big surgery this week with our vet to have a major dental done. She likely will lose most of her teeth, but will be feeling so much better for it. She has been suffering with dental issues for sometime and many of her teeth are broken, worn or this is going to make her even more sweet.

Maggie is a senior so therefore qualifies for our Senior incentives (please message us for more details). Maggie is house trained, spayed, vaccinated and healthy. Our vet checked her over head to tail and the only issue is her mouth, which is being addressed.

Maggie is low energy, but does enjoy a good distance walk, she is easy on lead, but is a big girl and does require some strength to redirect her if she sees something she likes. She weighed in overweight at 178 pounds and could stand to loose a few pounds.

Maggie is dog friendly, but we would rather her be in a home with no other dogs, as she can be a bit selective with who she wants to be friends with. She has been good with the cats she has met so far and does not seem to bother them.

Maggie is really a sweet girl, she would love a family where she can snooze her days away in the comfort of love and security.

Ideally for Maggie because she does have a pretty big bark, we would say no apartment living for her and children over the age of 12 is perfect for this aging senior, who would not enjoy the commotion little ones can be.

To apply for Maggie ( we would love to have her placed where she can recover from surgery vs being at the shelter) please go to our website and send us your application.
